New Emily Loizeau

Emily Loizeau plays French folk pop, with the occasional line in English here and there. Her last album featured guest vocals from Andrew Bird. I prefer when she sings in French, but handily you can hear two versions of her new song Sister on Myspace, one in French and one in English. I can’t speak French so I can’t understand her biography, how useless of me. At the top of her myspace it says “Nouvel Album Pays Sauvage Sortie Le 2 Fevrier 2009″ which I suppose translates to: new album, Pays Sauvage, out February 2nd.

There is a man/lady with a beard on that poster. Interesting. Perhaps she’s going for a circus-y vibe. Sister is quite bouncy and poppy and has some sweet whistling parts. Keep and eye out for the album. In the meantime, watch this video of Je Suis Jalouse from L’Autre Bout ue Monde. She can sing brilliantly.

Andrew Bird @ Shepherd’s Bush Empire tickets going on sale in 37 minutes (6pm), according to DiS!

£16.50 + £5500037378933 booking fee. Dang it. I’ll get a ticket anyway because I wouldn’t want it to sell out and then not be able to get a photopass.

It’s pricey, isn’t it. Don’t think it’ll sell out quickly, I’m gonna wait to see if he’s playing ATP.

It’s actually shockingly expensive, on Seetickets it’s £16.50 + £4.80 transaction fee (??????) + £2.65 booking fee??????? £23.95 is absolutely ridiculous. I think I’ll hold off for a couple of days for now. I thought £18 for St Giles was pushing it.

You forget the Number One Rule of gig-going, Anika: NEVER, EVER (unless there’s absolutely no other option) buy through SeeTickets! The official hierarchy of gig vendors, as decreed by the Gods themselves, is listed for future reference…
