Video: Soko + Kid Harpoon

I can’t remember if I posted this video before or not. It’s Soko playing with Kid Harpoon on his song Late For The Devil. According to Soko’s Myspace she is dead and has quit. She lists Elliott Smith as her one top friend and has set her location as Hell, France. ¬†I hope she is OK and isn’t serious. I was looking forward to her first full length. She seemed in very, very high spirits when I saw her in November.

My plan for this evening is to tidy my room and organize a revision plan. I just got back into London, I made it door to door in 2hrs10mins which is pretty good, I just missed out on the dreaded rush hour northern line tubes. My university has this webmail system, and on it you can’t set anything as ‘junk’. It drives me insane because they send us about a million irrelevant emails and mark them as ‘high importance’ (!!!). GRRR. I did consider going to see Still Flyin‘ at the Hoxton Bar and Grill but I think I’ll give it a miss. I might go for a late evening/night time walk later though in search of my picture of the day. If you check my Flickr you’ll know I’m trying to do a photo every day this year. You can see what I’ve got so far here.¬†Everyone warns me to not go out walking at night on my own, but it really is the best time to go for a walk when you live in the middle of the city. It’s good to listen to music too.

I saw her play just over a week ago at the Sunset Sounds festival, she said she had been crying all day and that it was her last show and she would be quitting music! She was fun and played great though, I hadn’t heard much of her before and I’m a bit sad that we might not get an album or see her play again. I was hoping she was kidding….

Oh no, that’s such a shame. I hope she feels better soon and doesn’t actually quit. She seemed in such high spirits when I saw her play. I think she said she was moving to LA too. And wow, all the way down in Australia! Small world.

i’d never heard of her before, but after listening it seems tragic that she’d turn her back on music! :(

Hopefully she’ll feel better and won’t actually quit. You might like this video, it’s my favourite of her songs just because it’s so simple and sweet:

If you are a passionate fan of Soko and would like to be involved in a film about her please contact me at
The idea is to compile a bunch of fan videos to show her love and support through her difficult time and how much her music means to many different people.
