February Calendar

So far February has been slow, like some sort of slow moving animal- a sloth perhaps. This is before its triumphant metamorphosis into a cheetah. Here’s what I have left this month:

The Thermals @ The Lexington 09/02: Lately I’ve been enjoying loud shows, sometimes it’s nice to just let your eardrums be destroyed. The folky acts I like are just too sweet to do that to me. This show is sold out.

The Olympic Symphonium @ The Slaughtered Lamb 10/02: I wanted to see this band last week but it was cancelled due to the treacherous snow.

Sky Larkin @ Rough Trade 11/02: I love Sky Larkin! And I love Rough Trade. And I love free shows. This is a win/win situation.

Moriarty @ The Slaughtered Lamb 11/02: The Slaughtered Lamb is nice.

Vivian Girls @ Proud Galleries 14/02: I’ve never been to this venue before and I confused about where/what it is.

Black Lips w/The Vivian Girls + The Soft Pack @ Islington Academy 15/02: The Black Lips have escaped from India. They really need to turn that into a movie.

The Joy Formidable @ Pure Groove 17/02: FREE!

Women w/Desmond and the Tutus + The Soft Pack @ Madame Jo Jo’s17/02: Another venue I haven’t been to.

Soy Un Caballo @ Pure Groove 18/02: FREE!

Passion Pit @ Pure Groove 19/02 FREE!

Jeff Lewis/Herman Dune/Laura Marling w/others @ Union Chapel 21/02: This is now sold out. An all day event in a church with Jeffrey Lewis present is surely a good thing.

The Deer Tracks w/Sad Day For Puppets @ The Old Blue Last 22/02: I haven’t got a ticket for this yet. I intend to go, but I will see how tired I am… I’ll need to save my energy for the epic week that will follow.

First Aid Kit @ Pure Groove 23/02: FREE!

Neko Case @ Bush Hall 23/02: I am very excited about this.

The Deer Tracks @ Pure Groove 24/02: FREE!

Fleet Foxes w/Vetiver @ Roundhouse 24/02: I don’t have a photopass, and it sounds like the Roundhouse is an impenetrable fortress, so I’m kind of sad I won’t be able to get any shots from this.

Chairlift @ Pure Groove 25/02: Evident Utensil is the most rediculously poppy song ever. I can’t wait!

M Ward @ The Borderline 25/02: Sold out! He has another date at Bush Hall, I’m not sure if it’s sold out yet, but I wouldn’t hang around any longer if you intend to go.

Ane Brun @ Union Chapel 26/02: I feel so sad I can’t see Woodpigeon. Too many clashes with bands I’ve never seen before.

Emmy the Great @ ULU 27/02: Emmy’s debut is out today. Celebrate by buying a ticket to her ULU show.
