It’s just a mere week before the church-fest of Owl Parliament. Here is a look at the line up:
13:15 Stars Of Sunday League
Emmy The Great’s pal Euan Robinson’s musical project which features Sarah Triggs. Euan, originally from Edinburgh, is based in London and plays quite alot of shows here. Despite this, I’ve never seen him play yet. They have an EP on the way. Listen on Myspace.
14:00 We Aeronauts
Folk pop from Brighton/Oxford. Here is a list of instruments they play: piano, drums, voice, keyboard, violin, melodica, bass, organ, guitar, concertina, banjo, trumpet, glockenspiel, accordion, morin khuur, mandolin. How impressive. Listen on Myspace.
14.45 Planet Earth
More of the same. A folk duo from London. I don’t know if they are named after the best BBC TV series ever, but I like to think so. Listen on Myspace.
15.30 Mechanical Bride
Mechanical Bride is the project of Laura Doss. Here is what her bio says: a young girl from surburbia, buried deep in the perversion of music, all things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small… Delicately experimental, folk/electro. Listen here.
16.15 Peggy Sue
I saw them last year at Fee Fie Foe Fum and I thought they were enjoyable, but I have to admit I wasn’t overly or underly impressed, they were just enjoyable. I am quite looking forward to watching them again though. Listen.
18:00 Johhny Flynn
Too hungry/tired/light headed to stay for his set at Fee Fie Foe Fum, I skipped it. He’s got a deep voice and does story telling style songs. I’m intrigued to see him. Listen here.
19:00 Laura Marling:
I am strangely looking forward to Marling’s set. Something about her never clicked with me and I never got into her songs, but when I saw her last December I really enjoyed her (very brief) performance. There was something really endearing about her set and I’m quite glad to see her play again.
20.00 Jeffrey Lewis
Yes! After several hours of supports we are on to the man I am going to see. The brilliant, wonderful, AMAZING Jeffrey Lewis. There’s nothing like a Jeffrey Lewis set. He is such a talented man and I can’t say enough good things about him. New album in 2009. Jeff’s comics are what got me drawing. He is brilliant. Musicians who draw = the best. Hooray for Jeffrey!
21.15 Herman Dune
GIF-loving Herman Dune round off the evening. I’m very excited to see them play, I hear they are amazing live. Listen to them on Myspace.
