Review: Jeffrey Lewis and The Junkyard at the Betsey Trotwood

It was dark and there were 3 rows of people in front of me, please excuse awful photo. I was going to draw a picture of it but I’m feeling to lazy to connect my scanner. So, there was a ‘secret’ Jeffrey Lewis show today before his set at Union Chapel tomorrow.

The room was ridicuolously tiny, I heard the door guy say capacity was 40 people. 40 people crammed together in a room that was about the size of a shoebox. Luckily I had a pretty decent view and could watch Jeffrey easy enough, which came in handy when he played the Complete History Of Communism Part 5, Korea. He was joined by his brother Jack, drummer Dave and a new lady vocalist whose name I don’t know. The band sounded good, Jeffrey was in as good spirits as ever, and the new songs sounded brilliant. They played for about half an hour and then the room emptied out. I really cannot wait to see him again tomorrow. GO SEE JEFFREY LEWIS!
