Ok. Time to take a deep breath and be calm. I must resist the urge to end every sentence with ‘!!!!!!!’ and write in caps lock.
I got there early and met up with Rich, who runs the tasty website The Line Of Best Fit. It wasn’t long before more friends arrived and then a black van pulled up and Wildbirds & Peacedrums made their entrance. I could barely contain my excitement. Literally. I went and sat at the front and got to meet some lovely folks who read my blog. I was trying to stay calm but I was really very excited to see the band play again. Brimming with joy, as you will.
They opened with Chain of Steel. They went straight into Places, which was BRILLIANT. They did So Soft So Pink and then Doubt/Hope, which is one of my favorites. Before they started Adam wondered ‘are they going to play My Heart?’ and I was like ‘of couuuuurse they’re gonna play My Heart!”. But when they started Doubt/Hope I thought that was their last one, so I was thinking OWWW, I can’t believe they aren’t going to do My Heart. Then they did My Heart. I couldn’t help but grin hugely and clasp at my own heart. Swooooon. That drum/steel drum part at the end is just so good. Words cannot describe.
After the set my heart was going all psycho and beating really fast. I think everyone there loved it. Last time I saw Mariam I showed her my comics and she asked me to email them to her, but I figure scans are boring and not as nice as hand drawn comics. So I re-drew two of my Wildbirds comics for them and gave them to Andreas. The pair of them are both so lovely and it was nice to speak to them again. Wildbirds & Peacedrums are my favourite band. I love other bands alot, but wow, Wildbirds & Peacedrums are so special. It’s about 5 hours until their next set, and I really can’t wait. Mariam says they want to try and make the Luminaire show a bit different, so I asked if they’d do The Ones That Should Save Me Get Me Down. She said ‘we’ll see’. I hope this translates to YES! but either way, I’m happy to hear them play anything.
Listen to them! Not sure what I’ll do for the next couple of hours…
