West sideeeeee

Well. I am biased to the East side. It’s closer. I’m more at home on the East side than the West.

I was scrolling down the Record Store day line up for Rough Trade East, as it was above the West side listings. Joe Gideon and the Shark and Caroline Weeks, pretty good. ‘Looks like I’m staying East’ was my first thought, as it’s so much easier than trekking West for Sky Larkin. I proceeded to scroll down the page.

I see Nat Johnson has been added to the West. I’ve seen her before and she was pleasant, not enough to sway me West though. I scroll down some more… Alessi’s Ark! WIN. Rough Trade West now has my complete and undivided attention.

Out of all the shops, East, West and Pure Groove, West is the most inconvinient. Pure Groove is 10 minutes walk. I’d like to see Patrick Wolf but I don’t fancy being crushed to death. East is 25 minutes walk away (at a leisurely pace, might I add) and also has the most artists on its lineup. West is a tube ride away, but Sky Larkin are great and Alessi is great too so I’ll get the tube over that way. Plan.

Come and join me at Rough Trade West, it’ll be fun! I’ve never been there before so I’m pretty keen to investigate it finally.

ah, three posts in a row. much better when there isn’t endless wildbirds posts! (sorry! I saw them support Efterklang at Royal Festival Hall, and they started off interesting/different, but then had my fill of them after 10/15 minutes into their set).

Anyhow. Where on earth is the Rough Trade West store? They used to have Covent Garden, before setting up the East store. Is it still there, or in a different West location. Much prefer west locations. they are best. (closer)

Haha yeah I think I’ve finally broken away from the exclusive W&P posting.

I’m not sure where Rough Trade West is, it’s not in Covent Garden though. I think it might be over Notting Hill way…

Yeah, it’s kinda near Portobello Market, if I recall…

But anyone heading west (and yes its on Talbot Rd just up from the Market Bar on Portobello, nearest tube Ladbroke Grove) is gonna miss My Sad Captains at noon over at RTE. But the band are getting used to this having been curiously overlooked by almost all indie music blogs over their 3yr gigging existence. I say ‘almost’ [ahem]…

Hah, nothing wrong with some shameless self promotion.

Alessi isn’t on til 4 or something, so I probably will be at RTE then anyway.
