Emmy the Great-First Love

I can’t wait to see Emmy play tomorrow. It’s been over 3 months since the ULU show, and almost half a year (!) since this:

Great busk. This was before the album had been released and I was still dying to hear her play the song, after instantly loving it when I first heard her play it live in November. It was cold that day. Ah, nostalgia.

First Love is one of my favourite records of the year.

I also underestimated how ‘close’ Sellindge is to Ashford. It’s 7 miles away. Which is close, but not when there is no tube system to rely on. I will see if I can get a lift otherwise I might have to walk/cycle. I think cycling would be fine, not sure if you can cycle on the road I would need to take though (it’s an A-road, is that legal?). I’ll figure it out. Hope it stops raining by then.

Whilst I love her music and her voice, I personally thought First Love just wasn’t as good as some of the more demo-like songs, and the ones on the ‘My Bad’ EP that was released beforehand. Almost as if the studio tweaked polished sound sort of took the edge off her music.

    [end opinion]
