Photo: St. Vincent at the ICA

Lovely, lovely, lovely.

Here is a photo of Annie from the St. Vincent show at the ICA. It was a brilliant show, Annie seems to be a consistently stunning performer. The band are fantastic. I will review the show and sort through more photos tomorrow evening. Shockingly, I have no evening plans. Hooray, a night in.

    Hi Anika,
I love your blog. I was in a bit of a rut, fallen out of love with music, not been to a gig in months when I stumbled on you a month ago. Your photos are great but it’s your infectious enthusiasm and love for music that I like most – I can only read a couple of postings before I have to stop and listen to something. Within 24 hours I was out watching Bowerbirds and discovering I had a thing for women with red accordians. You introduced me to Whispertown2000 and Low Anthem and their shows were joyous. And thanks to you I made sure I got my arse in gear and had tickets for St Vincent last night. Amazing gig.
I’m off now to hunt you down on twitter – not because I want to know what you have for lunch but because I’m damn sure you’ll be the first to know about Avett Brothers dates!
    Big thanks,
    Kevin

      Hey Kevin!

Thanks so much for writing this sweet message, it really made my evening. It makes me so happy to hear that you checked all those bands out and you got to like them too. Stay in touch!

This was not a great gig. Clark’s strengths, her voice and melodies, were drowned out by a badly balanced set with overloud bass and drums. Her albums are better balanced. One came away, unfortunately, with the idea that instead of being a musician trying to be a pop star, she was merely a pop star, who can’t resist a “rock thud”, a trying to be a musician.

If she thinks she’s going to write film music… as rumoured
