Sog Nit Keynmol

Soap&Skin just keeps blowing my mind. She is absolutely incredible. According to the setlist┬áthe last song she performed is called Sog Nit Keynmol. She performed it a’cappella. It turns out that the song is actually an old anthem sung by Holocaust survivors. It’s not German, it’s Yiddish. There’s an interesting Wikipedia page for it (spelt Zog Nit Keynmol) here.

Haunting. The lyrics, translated, go: never say this is the final road for you/though leadened skies may cover over days of blue… The song was sung in resistance against the Nazis and their persecution of the jews.

I really want to see Soap&Skin again…
